Practice Management Strategies Among the Current Members of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Background

At the 2025 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), a survey was conducted to determine practice management strategies among the AAHKS members.

Methods

An app was used by the AAHKS members to answer both multiple-choice and "yes" or "no" questions related to practice management issues.

Results

Overall, private practice (41%) is still the most common form of practice by AAHKS members, but hospital employment (31%) has increased. Relative value units are now more common (35%) than fee for service (32%) with respect to compensation. Outpatient total joint arthroplasty is now the norm.

Conclusions

The AAHKS member survey provides critical information regarding the practice patterns of AAHKS members, compensation, and the shift to same-day surgery.
